Due to ongoing work on the Elbmarsch elevated road (K20) south of the Elbe Tunnel, the A7 motorway in Germany will undergo another full closure. Extensive diversions have been planned—here are the details.

Autobahn GmbH Nord has announced that the A7 will be fully closed in both directions between the HH-Stellingen (26) and HH-Heimfeld (32) junctions from Friday, 6 December at 10:00 pm until Sunday, 8 December at 5:00 am.

Slip roads at the junctions HH-Volkspark (27), HH-Bahrenfeld (28), HH-Othmarschen (29), and HH-Waltershof (30) will begin closing on Friday, 6 December from 9:00 pm and will be shut down gradually, according to Autobahn GmbH. During the full closure, several traffic sign gantries will be lifted and installed.

Diversion routes A large-scale diversion via the A1, A21, and B205 will be available in both directions and is strongly recommended for through traffic and inter-regional travel:

  • From the south, traffic should divert from the Buchholzer Dreieck (43) / Horster Dreieck (40) via the Maschener Kreuz (39) motorway interchange, continuing on the A1.
  • From the north, traffic should divert from the Neumünster-Süd junction (15) onto the B205. Large and heavy goods vehicles must take an extended detour, as through traffic on the A7 will not be possible in either direction.

Motorway widening project The A7 motorway is being widened from six to eight lanes. This requires the installation of new traffic sign gantries along the carriageway, onto which the signs will be mounted later.
