Moto Hospitality, in partnership with Mind and SAMH, have launched the ‘cabversation’ campaign to encourage HGV drivers to connect and talk to one another when taking a break. The initiative also has the backing of the RHA.

Those behind the campaign say it represents an “opportunity to join the fight for better mental health and wellbeing for both HGV customers and colleagues”.

The idea behind the cabversation campaign is to encourage HGV drivers to connect with one another as well as their families, friends and Moto staff while at the company’s service stations.

“In partnership with Mind and SAMH, with the support of the RHA, we are helping the nation understand how much of a difference a meaningful connection with someone can make – giving them a bright spot in their day and an opportunity to connect and share how they’re feeling with others,” says Moto.

Earlier this year, as part of the campaign, Moto opened talking benches at our locations nationwide so as to provide a safe space for drivers to connect through a cabversation.

Via its Facebook page, Moto is also encouraging truckers to share a selfie or photo of them having a cabversation, whether that is with a friend, a fellow trucker or a Moto staff members. One of the photos will win a HGV driver bundle consisting of “some trucking essentials”.

The service station operator adds that those who find a cabversation icon hidden on its website can win £50 worth of Moto vouchers to top up meal tickets or spend on anything else on site.

Commenting on the initiative, Moto chief executive, Ken McMeikan, said: “We are enormously proud to have partnered with Mind and SAMH to launch our cabversation campaign to help with a key issue that HGV drivers across the nation face every day on the UK’s road network. The campaign will provide HGV drivers visiting our sites with the vital knowledge and means to connect with one another while taking a relaxing break at Moto service areas. Meaningful moments of connection are crucial to promoting better mental health and wellbeing, as well as providing drivers with the emotional support they need. We hope that our campaign will allow HGV drivers to take the time to connect with others and talk.”
